Imagine a world where your favorite Disney and Pixar characters team up and play together! Disney Infinity lets players do just that! This all new Disney gaming platform was recently unveiled at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. John Pleasants, Disney Interactive President, John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios and Avalanche Software VP, John Blackburn revealed this exciting multi-player video game and its ability to grow infinitely.
In June 2013 starter packs will be released with 3 accompanying figurines. Characters come to life by placing their figurines onto the game base which unlocks their specific worlds. Gamers will play on sets from The Incredibles, Monsters University and Pirates of the Caribbean. Mr. Incredible, Sully and the dashing Jack Sparrow are included in the initial starter pack. After players are comfortable in first worlds they can be adventurous and open up the “Toy Box” world of customization. The idea of the “Toy Box” is related to the fact that kids love playing with all of the toys, sometimes all at once, just like Andy from “Toy Story”. Kids (and adults) create their play space. This open-ended environment has limitless opportunities and players can unlock virtual toys, characters and can even control the weather! You basically create your own game! John Lasseter summed it up when he said, “Fun is play and play is fun.” In true Disney fashion, Disney Infinity is all about creating and having fun with your friends and family.
I predict this will be the IT game of 2013. There is tremendous amount of opportunities with all of the Disney characters and worlds. Check out the trailer and see what worlds you recognize. I noticed Rapnuzel’s lanterns in the trailer. Will there be Princesses? I have goosebumps! I can’t wait to get my hands on this game and play, create, imagine and have fun!!
Gaming platforms include PS3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Nintendo 3DS! Stay tuned for more information.
