I recently took my almost three-year-old, Brendan, on a movie date to the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. We watched the new Disney film Wreck-It Ralph as we snuggled up in our chair eating popcorn out of our movie-themed bucket. This was his first in-theater movie experience and it appears I picked a good one to get him started on! Ralph and Vanellope each want to fit in their own game worlds, but in Ralph’s efforts to prove himself as a ‘good guy’, he ultimately puts the entire arcade in danger that could shut them all down for good. Difficult decisions had to be made and Ralph’s actions at the end make him the ultimate hero.
After the movie it’s worth a trip downstairs to a room filled with Wreck-It Ralph memorabilia (complete with miniature racers, a miniature Sugar Rush and a ball toss game). You’ll even score a photo op with the star of the movie like we did:
Brendan couldn’t take his eyes off the 3D movie. I love that the El Capitan has lightweight, kids-sized 3D glasses. And although we went to a regular showing, the theater also offers special “tot” showings where the lights are dimmed rather than off and the volume is turned down a bit. They also have special showings with characters from the film on weekends.
Wreck-It Ralph shownig at El Capitan Theater now through December 18. For show times click here.
