It’s no secret that my girls are swept up in the American Girl culture. What’s not to love, after all? American Girl promotes strong values and virtues to instill in young women and to use for the future. Recently my two oldest girls (nearly 10 and 8) were delighted to receive the September/October issue of American Girl magazine. Full of crafts, advice, and activities, it’s a great publication for the younger set!
In this particular issue, there were a lot of back-to-school themed activities as well as Halloween ideas. My girls are especially interested in (and have made me promise to help them make!) the Monster Cake featured in this issue. The article teaches how to bake a cake in a bowl and use it as a base for decorating a spooky or fun monster. We can’t wait to try it! And for those who love decorating for the holiday or throwing Halloween parties, you’ll love the Haunted Hotel Party article. It’s everything you need to throw a unique Halloween soiree, complete with craft, game and treat ideas!
As a mom, I loved the “Fearless” article, a feature about three young girls who are doing brave and amazing things in karate, flying, and soapbox derby. I liked that these weren’t necessarily mainstream activities; so not only did my girls get to read about inspiring youth, but they got to learn about something new as well. And I admit, I learned something myself! I’ve never really read about soapbox derby before. How thrilling!
Age appropriate and wonderfully wholesome while still maintaining a cutting edge excitement, American Girl magazine is the largest bi-monthly publication dedicated exclusively for ages 8 and up. It has won numerous awards, and I bet you’ll see why. Pick up a copy today for the American Girl lover in your life; you (and she!) won’t be disappointed!
