What words are forbidden in your house? I can think of a few choice ones over here, but forbidden words take on a whole new meaning with the Taboo Game for adults by Hasbro! Taboo underwent a makeover in 2011, and it now has a new, updated look, a game-changing die and a hysterical “Uh-oh!” buzzer. Can you get your teammates to guess the word on your card without using the Taboo words or phrases? You’ll have a blast finding out!
I recently had the chance to play a game of Taboo with some friends of ours, and hilarity ensued! Nothing beats watching your friend trying to have his teammate guess the word “giddyup” while flouncing around the living room. It’s what Saturday night memories are made of! And since Taboo is geared for the adult crowd with some new “unspeakably fresh” cards, watch out! Some of your words may be twisted around and given more…ahem…adult meanings. The game-changing die completely throws a whole new element into the Taboo game we all know and love. You might be given only one guesser so that just one teammate can guess the answer instead of it being a group effort. Or maybe it will be an “all play”, where both teams guess as someone gives the clues! “Double the time” means you get to play through two timer cycles, but my favorite, “statue”, means you must sit perfectly still while giving clues. I never realized how much I use my hands for explanation until I rolled that one! We all got a kick out of buzzing each other when a forbidden word or phrase was mentioned—and our “Uh-oh!”s continued throughout the evening, even after we’d finished playing the game.
With more than 1,000 words for players to try to guess, you can play Taboo again and again and never grow tired of it. Geared for 4 or more adult players and retailing for $26.99, it’s a blast in a box. Why should our kids have all the fun? Grab some friends and have a game night over a glass of wine and some yummy apps—you’ll be creating hilarious memories in no time!

I have this game, but it’s been awhile since I played it. I am going to have to bring it back into my gaming rotation. 🙂
