I love cooking roasts on Sundays especially during the fall and winter. I put it in the slow cooker in the morning and the house smells great all day. I love trying new recipes (so if you have any please share) I found this recipe in an old family recipe book. I am not even sure who’s it was but I had to try it!
Ingredients:
- 4 lbs of Chuck Roast
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 garlic clove chopped
- 1 large onion sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- salt and pepper
- 3 lg potatoes cut into pieces
- 3 carrots sliced
Directions:
Mix tomatoes, onion, garlic, oregano and sugar set aside. Season the meat with salt and pepper and then brown on all sides. Add the carrots and potatoes to the bottom of the slow cooker then add the roast. Pour the tomato mixture over the meat and vegetables. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4.
Enjoy with some warm crusty bread.

This looks delicious!
I make my Italian pot roast just like this.. the only difference is no sugar,
It is so good.
Wow! This one really looks good! Would love to try this recipe over the weekend!
mmmm! This looks yummy and easy to make!
WHAT SIZE OR KIND (ROUND OR OVAL) SLOW COOKER OR CROCK POT WOULD BE USED ? SOUNDS LIKE A 6 OR MORE QT. PLEASE LET ME KNOE BEFORE I TRY THIS!
I used a 6 quart oval crock pot but either shape would work. Also if you opt to cook a smaller roast a then a smaller crock pot would work. Hope that helps! Enjoy =)
Reminds me of Portuguese food I ate when I lived in NewBedford, MA. Now in FL. I made it today for Sunday dinner! Thanks.
