Now through February 28th, Universal Studios Hollywood rings in the “Year of the Ram” with a special Mandarin-speaking Megatron from “Transformers: The Ride-3D” as well as the successful Transformers films. Head to the beautiful Art Deco-inspired grand courtyard for a Lunar celebration with character visits and Asian inspired treats.
Universal Plaza’s courtyard is the center of the theme park where a 12-foot-tall Megatron will speak to guests in Mandarin. I was told that he was wishing everyone a Happy New Year but he must have been really funny to the people who understood him, everyone was laughing! Curious George and Woody and Winnie Woodpecker will also make appearances in traditional Chinese attire in front of a Chinese gong. Get your cameras ready for adorable photo opportunities throughout the day!
A stunning plum blossom arch is in the center of the courtyard, surrounded by lamp posts adorned with signs featuring all twelve of the zodiac animal signs. Which one are you?
Enjoy a cold Tsingtao beer at the food cart or bite into a delicious Red Dragon Tail while taking in the traditional music filtered throughout Plaza.
One of my favorite attractions is the Studio Tour. Did you know that the tour is available in various languages, including Mandarin? Mandarin-speaking guides take guests on a remarkable behind-the-scenes tour of the Universal Studios backlot. I like sitting in the last row, of the last tram for awesome photos of Norman Bates, Listeria Lane as well as a visiting deer.
2015 is a big year for Universal Studios- the 3D thrill ride, “Fast & Furious-Supercharged” will be added to the studio tour, “Springtown” hometown to TV family Simpsons will premiere and Wizardly Worlds of Harry Potter area is coming along. Look for that attraction to open in 2016! Here’s a photo of the some of the construction!
