This summer I’m trying to break away from routine and try new things and places. So when the temps soared up to the 80’s I decided to take the kids somewhere new to cool off.
I decided on Spring Brook Park in Bedford, MA. Spring Brook Park is a man-made filtered facility that is fun for all ages. The park is set back from the road and is surrounded by trees creating a picturesque camp like setting. The filtered pond starts off as a cemented bottom wading pool which gradually deepens into a sandy bottomed pond. There is also a deeper area that features a fun water slide and a floating wooden dock that kids can swim out to. Each area is roped off according to depth and the slide and dock can only be used by those that are level 4 swimmers or use coast guard approved life vests and there are always lifeguards on duty.
The park also features a spray water park which my 5 year old daughter and her friends (aged 3, 4 and 6) loved! They couldn’t get enough and loved that they could control the spray of the water by turning handles and wheels. Next to the spray park there is a very nice play area with slides and swings. Spring Brook Park has it all!
You can pack your own lunch or visit the snack shack onsite which has basic and reasonably priced items such as hotdogs, pizza and sandwiches on the menu. We all enjoyed a Popsicle from the snack shack before we used the outdoor showers to clean off and head home.
