The organizers of the Turkey Trot Los Angeles are on a mission. It’s a mission to raise $50,000 for The Midnight Mission.
Turkey Trot Los Angeles, presented by UAE-USA United, makes its return to Downtown Los Angeles for its seventh annual Thanksgiving morning run for charity. Runners will be dressed as Thanksgiving turkeys, pilgrims and pies as they navigate a course around Grand Park, past the Disney Concert Hall, the Broad Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
“We created the Turkey Trot L.A. for all Angelenos to join as friends and partners, and be grateful together on a personal, civic and global level,” said Generic Events Co-Founder Brennan Lindner. The Turkey Trot Los Angeles is produced by Generic Events. “All runners, walkers and fans will experience an amazing community event and have a direct impact on the continued epidemic of homelessness in Los Angeles. This year, we have expanded our partnership with The Midnight Mission to collect supplies and hygiene kits.”
Actress and model Joy Corrigan will start the race, sponsored by UAE-USA United, Toyota, Capital One and Clif Bar. Bombas has offered to donate over 1,500 pairs of socks to The Midnight Mission as part of the event. Participants are encouraged to donate money, blankets and towels to The Midnight Mission.
“We are delighted to partner with Generic Events, the United Arab Emirates and Toyota for this year’s Turkey Trot,” said Mike Arnold, President & CEO of The Midnight Mission. “Here at The Midnight Mission, we help people regain self-sufficiency and combat the issues surrounding homelessness and gratitude in action will help create bridges to significant transformation. We are honored to be partnering with these extraordinary groups to raise awareness of the people who are living on our streets, hungry and without a home.”
Part of the Turkey Trot includes the Widdle Waddle for runners ages 2 to 12. It is a fun run around Grand Park and features a kidzone with face painting and other kid-friendly activities. The race ends with a 20-foot tall turkey in front of City Hall.
A post-race festival in Grand Park will feature music by DJ Cable and a raffle to raise additional funds for The Midnight Mission. Prizes include airline tickets from Etihad Airways and Dodgers tickets. Race participants receive Clif Bars, water from Whole Foods Market and treats from the Capital One Cafe.
The Turkey Trot events start at 6:45 a.m. on Nov. 28 and end with the Widdle Wobble at 10:45 a.m. The cost to register is between $20 and $70 and includes a Turkey Trot L.A. t-shirt and finisher medal.
