Gavin loves LEGOS. For such a young kid, he has an impressive LEGO collection. His Dad loves putting the sets together…once! Me, I have a love/hate relationship with these bricks. I love that they will last years, but I hate putting them together when Gavin decides he wants to break them apart! A few months ago we took Gavin to LEGOLAND Windsor. I have noticed that when you want to visit most places in the United Kingdom, it is much cheaper to book your ticket in advance! Through our search, we found that LEGOLAND offers an annual Preschool Pass for children age 3-5 years old for a great deal at only £50!. The Preschool Pass is good for one guardian (any adult) and the child. There are restrictions on the pass. You can’t visit the park during school breaks or on weekends. Since those are not ideal times for us, this pass is perfect. We decided if we only used it once, it already was a better deal than the tickets for all of us! Well, we have already been 3 times!!!
Now that Gavin has been introduced to LEGOLAND, he always asks to go there! I was surprised that there were so many rides that Gavin could go on! I think his absolute favorite ride to go on is the Learner Driving School with a visit to DUPLO Valley and Drench Towers coming in at a real close second!
LEGOLAND Windsor opened up DUPLO Valley and the Drench Towers this past May. We have been fortunate to have some really warms days this summer! With our last two visits, we took advantage of the warmth and spent some time in the new DUPLO Valley to cool off. The first time we just played in the Duplo Valley portion. Gavin kept pointing to the bigger part known as Drench Towers and we decided to venture into that area during our last visit! I am not sure if it was a way to control the crowds, but the employees allowed a set number of parents and children in at a time. I thought that was very organized and they did a great job keeping everyone happy and safe!
LEGOLAND Windsor does have devices called Q-Bots to help you plan your visit and wait time in lines. We tried using this during our second visit and it wasn’t successful. The device locked up on me and it became too much of a hassle. The park did give me two tickets to use during a future visit to skip to the front of the line for the inconvenience. I have noticed that Gavin does pretty well waiting in line. I am actually impressed with his patience!
During one of our visits, Gavin and I walked through Miniland. It was amazing! I loved seeing all of the famous landmarks built out of LEGOS. They even had a replica of the Trooping of the Colours!
Overall, I think LEGOLAND Windsor is a good park (Note: I grew up in California where all the theme parks and zoos are HUGE! So, I have a high standard!) We have a great time and Gavin is over the moon whenever we go. Having the Preschool Pass and visiting during the off peak times allows us to enjoy the park more without the crowds. I can only imagine how much bigger the LEGOLAND resorts are in CA and FL! While we are here for the next year, we will definitely take advantage of our pass and go as often as we can!
Have you visited any of the LEGOLAND parks?
