Love is in the air and there’s nothing better than reading with our little ones. The following are some sweet titles that are a perfect read for Valentine’s Day and can be appreciated every day of the year.
Tucker’s Valentine By Leslie McGuirk
Candlewick Press
Ages 2-5
$6.99
You can’t help but to love Tucker. We love this delightful Valentine themed board book. Cupid’s goal is to make sure that Tucker falls in love on Valentine’s Day. Does Cupid succeed? Will Tucker fall in love with Cupcake (who apparently smells like chicken)? Or is he too busy playing in the laundry? One thing we know is that Tucker loves his owner. My daughter can relate, as she loves her doggies as much as they love her! They’re just as rambunctious and loyal as Tucker. Tucker’s Valentine is a sweat and satisfying read. – Tee
Guess How Much I Love You Sweetheart Edition (Hard Cover) By Sam McBratney
Candlewick Press
Ages 0+
$12.99
Guess How Much I Love You is a classic story with a positive message. I adore this book. The story is of Little Nutbrown Hare who expresses his love for Big Nutbrown Hare. The two trade back and forth about how much they love each other. Big Nutbrown Hare manages to top his son with every turn. My favorite line from BNH is, “I love you all the way to the moon and back.” That’s exactly how my husband and I feel about our daughter. Actually, our love for each other is infinite. This edition of Guess How Much I Love You has a red cover and sits right by our bed. We’ve read it to our daughter every night at bedtime since it’s arrival. The illustrations are soft, humorous and touching. This book has a timeless message and can be enjoyed any time of year. – Tee
My Valentine by Brandy Cooke
Little Simon
Ages 1-4
$4.99
This heart-shaped board book is the perfect size for my almost 1-year-old’s hands. He latched onto this book and stared intently at each page. This short story follows a baby fox trying to decide who to give his valentine to, while illustrating sweet interactions between baby animals on Valentine’s Day. He decides in the end to share his Valentine treats with all his friends. – Heather
Whatever You Do, I Love You! by Ellen Weiss
Little Simon
Ages 1-4
$7.99
Unconditional love is the theme of this sweet, rhyming story. Whether it be doing their best in a race or making a mess (er, I mean art!) with paint. I love that this book features a baby animal with a generic adult, making it a perfect read for kids with their parents, grandparents, older siblings or even babysitters. Kieran loved this book, and looked up at me with a smile every time I read “Whatever You Do, I Love You!” – Heather
Little Simon
Ages
$7.99This rhyming book follows a dog and a mouse through their various adventures centered around LOVE. They take a car ride under blue skies, share a milkshake, and roast marshmallows over a campfire to name a few. Kieran’s favorite was “Love is Grand”, as she said the picture reminded her of when we lived in New York CIty. It also mentions that love “wipes away the tears” and “sends our troubles along”, which is a great lesson to introduce to the toddler set. It’s a quick read with a great message. – Heather
