In 30 days, Disney will be releasing the first episode of season 3 of The Mandalorian. The critically acclaimed Star Wars series reunites its titular protagonist (Pedro Pascal) with Grogu after being briefly separated for a short period of time. Now the two are off on new adventures where they will meet familiar friends and face off against old adversaries. And since we are just a month away, Disney has released a brand new poster and featurette.
The poster sees Din standing on top of his newly chrome minted Naboo Starfighter, with Grogu safely secured in the droid pod. OF course, there’s much more to it, with Din wielding his trusty ol’ blaster in his left hand and the powerful Darksaber in the right. The lone bounty hunter had claimed the Darksaber after defeating Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) aboard a Star Destroyer in the season 2 finale. And in doing so, he also was crowned ruler of all of Mandalore. It’s a responsibility he does not want, though. And it looks like season three will explore who he will atone for the sins of taking off his helmet. A absolute Madalorian creed that cannot be broken.
As for the featurette, it is more or less a celebration of the legacy of The Mandalorian.
There will be other adventures as well, as previous trailers hint at the new republic being in some sort of peril. Perhaps the series will start to bridge the gap between the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy. But we will have to wait and see.
While two went through a lot during their separation, with Din training to wield the Darksaber properly, and Grogu training to be a Jedi in, we will see the return of the lone wolf and cub story once more. Not only that, but since Grogu has had some training in the Force, we will get to see a certain extent of that training in season 3.
“The Mandalorian” stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow, and Giancarlo Esposito. The directors of the eight-episode Season 3 include Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
“The Mandalorian” season 3 will premiere on Disney+ on March 1, 2023.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “The Mandalorian” season 3:
“Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.”
