Spring is in the air which means flip flop season is almost upon us. Nothing makes me more happy than slipping on my favorite pair of flip flops. This year I am excited to try out Havainanas Sandals. Although they have been a wardrobe staple in Brazil since the 1960’s, their popularity here in the US is rapidly growing!
Havaianas were created in 1962 and inspired by the typical Japanese Zori Sandals which featured fabric straps with rice straw soles. By the 70’s and 80’s they were being copied by many other companies spawning the famous ad slogan “Havaianas. The Real Ones.” Havaianas are now available in over 60 countries and are even included in Oscar Swag bags!
By now you must be wondering what is so special about Havaianas. The answer is simple. Not only does the molded rubber thong feature a shock absorbing midsole and a durable rubber outsole. The high quality rubber (the rubber recipe is top secret) makes the sandals soft as marshmallows, light and highly durable. Oh and let’s not forget the designs. I have never seen so many options for flip flops. The brightly colored designs will appeal to all ages for both men and women! Seriously. There are so many to choose from. If you are feeling creative you can even design your own pair! Not to worry though you can still find your basic black flip flops from Havaianas.

I can’t wait to get my first pair (or shall I say pairs) of Havaianas! Both of my daughters have already picked out their favorite styles too. My 4 year old chose a pretty pair featuring Cinderella. My eco-conscious 17 year old decided on a pair of the Conservation International designs which donates 7% of the sales to environmental projects and research in Brazil. Havaianas are definitely an IT accessory for all ages this spring!

I love Havianas. Living on Kauai for three years, you are always on the hunt for the perfect pair of “slippahs” My Havianas are my favorite. They are stylish and super comfortable. Those heart ones are adorable!
