Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” The film is the fourth chapter in the Spider-Man MCU franchise, and sees Tom Holland returning to play Peter Parker and the titular character as he tries to navigate living in a world where his best friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) no longer remember him.

Set after the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Peter Parker is now living a quiet life, but as Peter Parker, is day is anything but ordinary. He is no longer an avenger, and has to be a more neighborhood friendly Spider-Man has he is tackling street level heroes and maybe some vigilantes like Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal).
The trailer hints that Peter will go through some interesting changes in his life and that it is somewhat evolutionary. And the person that is telling him or us this information is none other than Keith David, a legendary actor with an unforgettable voice. David explains that Peter will be going through a rebirth of sorts, as the clips sees Spider-Man struggling to cope with his new Spidey sense and Peter Waking him in a coccoon of his own webbing. Luckily Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) is there to at least help Peter understand what is going on. He says a few interesting words, one of which is “mutate.” A word which we have not heard on this Earth 616 or the MCU since “Ms. Marvel.”
Also the trailer discusses how spiders, when between life cycles, are vulnerable, and those that survive go through a “rebirth.” The trailer also flashes plenty of visual teases, including masked ninja-like attackers and a first proper look at Scorpion’s suit, reinforcing the film’s more grounded, street-level action. Including some of that signature Spider-Man quippage where he is swinging towards a car chase and an angry Punisher is following.
Not all is lost though. Peter still tries to socialize with he fellow floormates as he goes to a party where MJ and Ned are. At the same time, he is facing down villians like comics villain Scorpion – AKA Mac Gargan (Michael Mando).
Another thing to note is that “Stranger Things” Sadie Sink is in the film as an unnmed character, although some suggest she could be playing as Jean Grey, aka one of the most power psychic mutants in Marvel. Of course we won’t know until the film confirms that since everyone likes to keep things a secret.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” swings exclusively in theaters on July 31, 2026.
