Celebrate with the Smurfs this holiday season! Heather and I, along with our girls, “Smurfed the whole day long” at Sony Pictures Animation Studios earlier this week. We had a Smurftastic time Smurfing around experiencing the new DVD releases and interactive fun! The Smurfs Movie available December 2nd as 3-Disc Holiday Gift Set, Blu-Ray 3D and DVD
I missed The Smurfs debut on the big screen earlier this year. I have to quite honest; I was a bit hesitant about the Smurfs transition from cartoon characters to computer generated 2D/3D figures. Boy, I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the film! The storyline was familiar to us Smurf fans. Gargamel the evil wizard along with his side-kick Azrael scheme to get their hands on their favorite blue people. This time, the movie is set is NYC! My daughter gets a kick out of Azrael’s facial expressions and maniacal laughter! Smurfette is as cute as ever and definitely my daughter’s favorite. I learned some new facts about the Smurfs which was cool. What I really enjoy about Blu-Ray combo packs/gift sets are all the extras! The commentaries, games and bloopers really add to the movie experience and I appreciate the behind the scene moments!

I love the Smurfs because every time I see anything about them I remember taking my daughter when she was a little girl to a little gift shop that sold them. It was a special occasion for us to visit the cute shop so she could choose one new Smurf for her collection as a reward for getting good grades in first grade on spelling and math tests. Now she has 2 little girls of her own and she has passed her collection to her almost 6 yr. old daughter who loves it! I have been calling her “my little Smurfette” and I tell her she is Smurf-a-tastic and she giggles. 🙂

I remember myself as a child getting up on Saturday mornings at 7 a.m. (now anyone with kids knows that this NEVER happens during the week!) just to watch my smurfs! It’s still a favorite!

As a child I collected the smurf figures. Had so many! And they smelled smurftastic.. they had their own smurfy smell!! I always wanted the cottage house, never got it. I wish I still had my smurfs! Perhaps I ought to buy new ones! HA!
