“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” promises to be unlike any of the high-stakes films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by being more playful and lighter in tone. The upcoming slice of life and legal comedy strikes a balance between the satirical and the cinematic superhero drama by looking at Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) navigating the perils of being a successful lawyer with the responsibilities of being a 6’7” green Hulk, and taking a few swipes at the MCU with some meta-humor and fourth-wall-breaking moments.
While everyone loves the big screen spectacle of a superhero movie, the format of “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” lends itself to revealing what happens to some of our heroes and villains on an uneventual day while also dealing with the frustrations of swipe dating, and the power of sisterhood. And the trial of the week approach gives way for plenty of cameo appearances of our favorite legacy characters like Wong (Benedict Wong) and Emil Blonsky, aka Abomination (Tim Roth), as well as introduce some newer ones who are making their big MCU debut.
ThatsItLA had the chance to talk to “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” head writer Jessica Gao about the comedy as well as breaking some of those barriers. Plus we get into some fashion, plushies, and discover that we are fans of the same artist i.e. I learn that she is engaged to 100% Soft. Check out the video interview below.
“She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” debuts exclusively on Disney+ on August 18, 2022.
