Review: Whole Fruit Sorbets

Our family loves ice cream. I mean we really love ice cream. There’s almost always some in our freezer, usually of the cookies and cream or moose tracks variety. So when we had the chance to try Whole Fruit sorbets, with their non-dairy-ness, with nary a cookie bit in sight, my kids were skeptical.  The Whole Fruit sorbets are very different from what we’re used to with gorgeous colors and fresh, fruity flavors and chunks of real fruit throughout.

We tried Mango, Black Cherry, Raspberry, Strawberry and Lemon. We had fun mixing different combinations of colors and flavors tosee what we liked best. They were like jewels in the bowl! We found some flavors such as Mango a tad too sweet but Lemon balanced it out.

These sorbets are so pretty, you could easily serve them for a fancy-looking dessert. I can imagine a dark chocolate sauce drizzled over a bowl of different colors – it would be beautiful. I bet they’d make great “floats” with ginger ale or some other clear soda. The fruitiness and bright colors definitely have me thinking of different ways to serve the sorbets which, I have to say, ice cream doesn’t inspire.

As an added bonus, Whole Fruit Sorbets are fat free, dairy free and gluten free.  As we get into summer, I’m going to keep some Whole Fruit Sorbets on hand, along with regular ice cream as a prettier, fruitier alternative.
