As true ODD SQUAD fans are already aware, the second season of the PBS KIDS series debuted in June. But even more exciting news is the announcement that a first-time ever ODD SQUAD: The Movie will debut this Monday, August 1st.
PBS KIDS reports that the first season of ODD SQUAD attracted an audience of nearly 10 million kids. Our household is certainly one of this number! My kids love how each week the junior Odd Squad agents solve mysteries using math and teamwork. It makes my crew feel empowered to imagine themselves helping adults and working together to apply cool math skills to solve mysteries.
Stay tuned to your local PBS station, pbskids.org and the PBS KIDS Video App on August 1 to catch ODD SQUAD: The Movie. The movie follows a rival group of adults called the Weird Team as they introduce a gadget that fixes all odd problems, truly running the Odd Squad kids out of business. Could this be the end of The Odd Squad? No way, these kids could never last long living as regular kids. The original Odd Squad agents, Olive and Otto, return to help the newest Odd Squad members use math and teamwork to squash the Weird Team and regain their position as problem solvers.
According to PBS Kids, new digital content from the Show will include “Cases,” an online game that invites kids to use math skills and deductive reasoning to find the culprit behind some very odd happenings. The first four cases will kick off with Season 2 on June 20, while the remaining cases will launch in tandem with the movie in August. More new ODD SQUAD games will be added as part of the free PBS KIDS Games app.
ODD SQUAD is created by Tim McKeon (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Adventure Time, The Electric Company) and Adam Peltzman (The Electric Company, The Backyardigans, Wallykazam!), and produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment and The Fred Rogers Company.
