Disney has released the newest trailer for Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios’ second cinematic longform series that will debut exclusively on Disney+ later this March. Originally scheduled for an August 2020 release, the sequel series was pushed back in both production and release due to the pandemic of last year. It stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, who must act as the heroic symbol of justice and good that Captain America (Chris Evans) left behind. Unable to shake off the complicated issues that come with wielding Cap’s iconc shield, Sam and Bucky are tasked with stopping a nameless evil threat from turning the world upside down. It also stars Daniel Bruhl as Baron Zemo, one of the chief adversaries of that incited the conflict between the Avengers in “Captain America: Civil War.”
The trailer has plenty of buddy cop quips with Sam and Bucky constantly at odds with each other, but also has that cinematic action – but for the small screen. Though the series is undoubtedly a political thriller, it also uses that uneasy chemistry between Sam and Bucky to make for a hilarious buddy cop series. So it should be interesting to see how fans will react to Marvel Studios’ second series that is a little bit more conventional and less experimental than “WandaVision.”
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier seriesalso stars Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka U.S. Agent, the mirror contrast to everything Captain America stands for. Oddly enough, Russell’s father, Kurt Russell, also starred in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” also as the villain.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “Falcon and the Winter Soldier:”
Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of “Avengers: Endgame,” team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience.
The series also sees the return of Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, who seems to have more of a meatier role this time around.
“Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is a six-episode series that debuts exclusively on Disney+ March 19, 2021.
