Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge promises to be one of the most immersive Star Wars experiences to date, with park guests able to walk into the world of the film. All corners of this area will be filled with everything Star Wars, from the rides and buildings to the food and cast members. Even guests will become a part of the Galaxy’s Edge story that was designed to make for a much more engaging experience for guests.
During a presentation for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, it was revealed that Disney had made a deal with Coca-Cola to release special Aurebesh Coke products. These products look like thermal detonators with the Aurebesh writing, the common language seen in all Star Wars films.
Now, it wasn’t revealed how much volume these Coke-filled thermal detonators will have. One would hope that it would at least be more than the regular 20oz bottles that are usually offered to guests. We will just have to wait and see.
With Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge being an area that is set somewhere in the galaxy that we haven’t seen before, there are chances that guests will see familiar and new faces.
Portfolio Creative Executive & Studio Leader, Walt Disney Imagineering for Walt Disney Imagineering Scott Trowbridge took to the stage to talk about some of the characters that we would see in Galaxy’s Edge. Fans anxious to see the new area already knew that they would be able to see characters like Kylo Ren of the First Order and members of the Resistance, like Rey, Finn, and Poe on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – a dark ride in which guests are involved in a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
And we all know how powerful the Force is. And it is so great that you’ll be able to hear Frank Oz as Yoda. It’s unclear how we will hear Yoda. Will he be hidden from us? Are we going led to believe that he is a Force Ghost – remember, the film will take place somewhere in between The Force Awakens and The Rise Of Skywalker. Could the Disney Imagineering team project Yoda via hologram? Again, we will just have to wait and see.
But Oz won’t be the only person to reprise the voice of a character. Paul Reubens returns as R3X, the loveable droid from Star Tours, who will now be DJing in Oga’s cantina. Whether or not this is a downgrade or upgrade depends on your perspective. The important thing is that R3X will be back.
Finally, the attraction that I’m sure everyone will be talking about, and one of two that will be available when Galaxy’s Edge opens, is The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Guests will be able to be a part of the new crew as they try to escape their pursuers. But this is more than just a simulator ride. Guests will have important roles to play. Literally. Because depending on your flight crew’s performance, the Falcon could be worse for wear once your mission is over. The piece of junk could look pristine by the end of the mission or something else entirely. But you won’t be flying in blindly, as status updates will help you get through the mission in one piece.
And that is not all. There will be Twitter sweepstakes for a chance to win a vacation to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort, to help spread awareness of FIRST. This vacation will also include a guided tour by a Disney Imagineer throughout the all-new land. Visit the official Star Wars Twitter account at twitter.com/starwars and retweet the announce video with #StarWarsFFCSweepstakes between April 13-22 to enter.
