‘Muppets Now’ Trailer: Kermit’s Video Conference Call Details New Improvised Sketch Comedy Show
Muppets Now will make their streaming debut later this month. As such, Kermit and the gang are busy preparing for their new sketch comedy show that will be sure to have some relevant content. And now we can see plenty of that in a brand new trailer.
In it, Kermit supervises a video conference with some of our favorite muppets like Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Rowlf, Bunsen & Beaker, Dr. Teeth, Walter, and Joe from Legal. See, Joe from Legal, who is the newest addition to the Muppet crew, provides the details about this latest non-fiction and unscripted show, whose muppisodes will contain interviews, game shows, cooking lessons, and other aspects about lifestyle.
Gonzo pitched the idea of having rotating guest stars. No, he, literally, wants to rotate them at 325 mph in clotted cream. While the ever so humble Miss Piggy thinks the show should be about her. And Bunsen and Beaker’s hopes of shooting the show at the state of the art studio were crushed when Joe from Legal said they would have it at a studio with a rich and storied history so that they could expedite content creation. In other words, a very cheap place, to which Miss Piggy described as a dump.
And before the meeting adjourned, the trailer revealed the July 31 premiere date.
“The Muppets are thrilled to be doing our first-ever unscripted show! It’s going to be extremely spontaneous and very surprising, almost as surprising as the fact that we ever actually used a script in the past,” Kermit said.
And here are some details from the press release.
This season’s celebrity guests include entertainers, comedians, chefs, and more. Fans won’t want to miss all-new improvised comedy segments from their favorite Muppets, including Miss Piggy, Beaker, Camilla, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great, Kermit the Frog, Pepe the King Prawn, The Swedish Chef, Scooter, Uncle Deadly, among others.
The press release also came with some notes from the other members of the cast. Whether or not these notes will be of any help for the show remains to be seen. But it looks like there will be a lot of laughs. Linda Cardellini, Aubrey Plaza, Seth Rogan, and RuPaul are just a few celebrity guests that will appear on the show.
Muppets Now will exclusively stream on Disney+ starting Friday, July 31, 2020. New episodes will be released every Friday.
