How cool is it that I was selected to participate in the First Street Ice Cream & Creative Cone Shoppertunity with Smart & Final! The goal was to come up with an ice cream creation using ice cream cones. I admit it, I’m an ice cream-a-holic. I love it and probably could eat it everyday but don’t worry, I don’t! My family decided to create an “I Scream Sundae Cone”. Basically you can create your favorite mini sundae by just scaling down the ingredients and fitting it into a cone. Smaller portions also means less calories! We drove to the nearest Smart & Final and picked up the ingredients for our creation. First Street Ice Cream along with a box of First Street Cones were on the top of my shopping list. Did you know that First Street Ice cream is made with Real California Milk? I live in California and it’s important to me that the dairy products that we buy are made exclusively with milk from California Dairy farms.
I have to admit that Smart & Final strikes a nostalgic chord. My brother and I loved our weekly supermarket trips with Mom. She always picked up ice cream and a box of cones to treat my brother and I when we got home. Occasionally, my mom would pick up the colored ice cream cups but we enjoyed the regular ones just as much. Vanilla Bean was our favorite flavor. Something about the speckled vanilla beans gave a truer, tastier vanilla taste.
My husband, daughter and I had fun creating our own I Scream Sundae Cones. Oh, and remember that First Street Ice Cream bears the Real California Milk seal on it. The dairy ingredients came from California Dairy farms. I like supporting local businesses!
Here are the ingredients that I purchased from Smart & Final for my I Scream Sundae Cone (excluding the walnuts):
- Smart and Final ice cream cups or cones.
- First Street Maraschino Cherries
- Redi Wip whipped topping
- Lyons Designer Dessert Sauce Caramel
- Hershey’s Syrup Genuine chocolate flavor
- Sprinkles
The sky is truly the limit for your Sundae in a Cone!
Adding a piece of Pizelle or butter crisp will make your cone look extra pretty! Do you love banana sundaes? Add a few slices in your cone even add your favorite candy.
My daughter was in heaven and the treat did not last more than 2 seconds after I took this picture of her. The I Scream Sundae Cone idea would be perfect for an ice cream themed birthday party! Sure you can eat a sundae out of a dish but it’s messy fun in a cone! Just like when you were a kid. =)
