Halloween may be a couple of months away from happening, but Disney has already started its marketing campaign for “Muppets Haunted Mansion,” an all-new Muppets special set to debut exclusively on Disney+. While it is only a teaser, Gonzo seems to just have the right amount of umph to conjuring lightning bolts. Unfortunately, Pepe the Prawn, his own screen partner, doesn’t have the same amount of energy.
In the video, Gonzo the Great teases “Muppets Haunted Mansion” as a special total terrifying tale of total scariness scariest that will be both hilarious and harrowing. And with every “Muppets Haunted Mansion” that he says, he unexplainably conjures lightning bolts. A very intrigued Pepe the Prawn also wants to try, and Gonzo encourages him to say those three words in that order. Sadly, it doesn’t work the first few times. As a frustrated Pepe makes even more attempts with some umph, Gonzo says he will see all of us when “Muppets Haunted Mansion” drops later this fall. Of course, as he said that, lightning bolts come crashing down, again.
Per the press release, “the brand-new special will feature a star-studded Muppets cast, celebrity cameos, all-new music and spooky fun for families to enjoy together. The announcement was made today to help celebrate the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products’ “Halfway to Halloween” event.”
Additionally, “Muppets Haunted Mansion” takes place on Halloween night, when Gonzo is challenged to spend one very daring night in the most grim grinning place on Earth …The Haunted Mansion. Well, watching the special would be a nice way to christen Halloween 2021, especially when we couldn’t do much of it last year. Or, if you are done celebrating and trick-or-treating, you can watch it after.
And the celebration isn’t confined to just the Halloween special. In fact, the announcement is meant to celebrate the “Halfway to Halloween” event that is happening across all things Disney, including the Parks, Experiences, and Products. Needless to say, I am very intrigued about how the Muppets will be crashing it all with their zany antics. But one thing is for sure, you can’t go wrong when the Muppets are involved with some Halloween fun.
