Living in Los Angeles sure has it’s perks! Especially when it comes to movies. I was one of the lucky ones to see The Avengers a few days before the May 4th release and WOW! I loved every second of it. My husband and I sat with our Captain America and Iron Man 3D glasses on and were thrilled to finally witness The Avengers Assemble! The Avengers has been on my 2012 must-see movie list and it was definitely worth the wait!
Thor’s brother, Loki is on Earth and he’s stirring up some trouble. He’s after the Tesseract (energy cube) and threatens an alien attack on Earth! In order to save the world Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson) and S.H.E.I.L.D. pull together a superhero team called The Avengers featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. Their mission is to stop Loki and retrieve the Tesseract. Now, I am not well versed in comics but I’ve always loved superheros. I’m very aware of the majority of the characters and their traits. Plus, I love how Marvel movies set you up to appreciate the characters enough to go read the comics to get that deeper understanding of the story lines. My husband was a fierce comic collector back in the day but still follows the arc of the sagas. He’s saving his comic book collection for our daughter!
Each superhero is given their moment to shine in The Avengers. They were truly a team with each character having a unique “ying and yanger” (Iron Man & Captain America, Thor & Hulk; Black Widow & Hawkeye). We do see flashes of ego from the various characters but their collaborations were electric. Especially the conflict between brothers Thor and Loki. Sibling rivalry at it’s best! My favorite scenes were of The Avengers fighting the alien invaders. That’s when The Avengers teamwork truly shined. This movie is packed with high energy action, seriously cool special effects, funny lines and comic book drama! The fans around me laughed and cheered! Seeing a movie with enthusiastic movie goers always makes the experience that much cooler. There was a special “in-that-moment” shot when all of the characters were together reminding me of the posters or pages from an actual comic book. AWESOMENESS! The only downside was the 3D. I have to admit that I did get a little dizzy.
The Avengers will please Marvel fans young and old as well as you non-comic book fans. I can’t wait to see it again! Your kids (PG13) will love seeing their favorite superheroes come to life! Make sure to stay through the credits. You’ll get a little glimpse of what’s to come in the Marvel Movie Universe.

Just saw this movie last night with another couple. We all enjoyed it very much! I’m a big Iron Man fan so all of my favorite scenes were the one’s with Robert Downing Jr. =) I have to say I was definitely entertained from beginning to end..a very fun movie!
