It’s amazing how far social media has come. From bringing people and brands together to connecting mom’s with similar interests for play dates! In fact, that is how Tee and I met-through a group I had set up for Working Moms in the area via meetup.com. Sites like Mom Life lets moms know that they have support in dealing with everyday issues that are important to us.
I recently watched one of their current episodes-“Are you shopping for a better world?” Topics were discussed to help become a socially aware shopper without spending any extra money. For example, visiting brandkarma.com can help you understand the causes that various companies support, making you a more informed shopper.
My favorite recent episode was “Are you a cool mom?” I love the fact that they brought up the point that mom’s do need to take care of themselves in order to be there 100% for their kids. I’ve been very outspoken about this from my beginnings of being a mom. They also discussed being relevant to your kids, such as keeping up with technology.
Jen and Barb of Mom Life recently invited us to meet up with them and other LA bloggers at the Sade and John Legend Concert at the Staples Center. Tee and I donned our big hoop earrings and set out to meet some new moms and discuss how to connect them with a larger audience of moms. And, yes, the concert was amazing!
I love that Jen & Barb Mom Life’s website also has a on-line community for moms. You can “reach out” to Jen & Barb for personalized advice with your issues. I really wish I had this during my recent time living in NYC–away from family and close friends and my entire support structure!
