Sometime around 6 months ago, my daughter, then 3.5 years old, decided she would only wear dresses. You’ll occasionally see her in something else, but that is a rare day indeed. When it comes to buying clothes for back to school, they need to stand up to some serious play, and as far as Kieran is concerned, it needs to be a dress!
We recently reviewed the Electric Pop VedetteTM Dress by TwirlyGirl. The bright colors remind me of the 80’s and I’m overcome with the strange urge to crimp Kieran’s hair whenever she wears it!
I love the detail of the band of fabric around the left upper arm. The dress is made of knit cotton and has a turquoise blue mesh overlay. The long-sleeve dress is a great back to school option, as temps will soon be dropping. The TwirlyGirl website also shows this dress paired with jeggings and knee-high boots, which is a great option for cooler days.
I have not tested this dress for outdoor play, as temps here in Los Angeles have been unbearably high. But, this dress has so far withstood the test of indoor play and intermittent tugging by her 18-month-old brother. Our TwirlyGirlWOW dress was very durable, and I expect nothing less from the Vedette. In fact, my daughter still wears that dress almost every week for both indoor and outdoor play, more as a shirt than a dress at this point and none of the material has snagged or frayed. As far as how the Vedette has held up to multiple washings–so far so good! It’s undergone five washes. The blue is bright. The mesh overlay fabric is intact and the dress is as twirly as ever.
TwirlyGirl sizing is standard with most clothing companies. Kieran is 44 inches tall and weighs 41 pounds and the review dress at a size 7, was only slightly long in the arms and big in the body. A size 6 would be a perfect fit for her. TwirlyGirl also has a size chart on their website, but if you are on the fence, order a size up.
Here’s Kieran in various stages of twirl:
Just be sure to wear some shorts under! TwirlyGirl has made some some Under Twirl Shorts for just this purpose.
