With our year-round sunny weather here in Southern California, sunscreen is must. At play dates in the park or outdoor parties, I can’t seem to catch the kids long enough to reapply sunscreen or to remember to reapply on myself. I was so happy to be introduced to Mott 50, a clothing line with a certified Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of 50. I stopped by their pop-up shop on Abbot Kinney in Venice and absolutely fell in love with the clothes and the amazing women behind the fashionable line. Life long friends and coworkers, Monique and Anne were each affected by the sun’s harmful effects and created a brand that would change our relationship with the sun and sun protection. The clothes are stylish but relaxed and extremely comfy. The line reflects our California lifestyle but sensibly protects us from harmful UV.
For myself, I love the tunics and the beach pants. I could live in them! The material is light weight and airy. Another favorite is the cardigans constructed out of a Bamboo/spandez blend. The t-shirt maxi dress is also on my list of favorites. Its hard to believe the clothes are all 50 UPF and the sun protection does not wash out!
Swim Dress is perfect for beach days. It is fitted with adjustable rouching that can be pulled up when you get in the water then wear it pulled down when you are walking back to your beach chair. I admit that I am not sporty. I always felt like it was deceptive of me to wear a rash guard at the beach for sun protection. This line of clothing gives me the protection and performance I want but suits my style.
This month Mott 50 introduced their kids line Mini Mott 50. Same protection of UPF 50 and made in the amazingly, comfy fabrics from their woman’s line. My toddler, looked adorable in the mini dress as well as the hooded tunic for her. Mott 50 offers pieces for the boys as well. I picked up a long sleeve rash guard for my son. Another item that I loved were their baby blankets. The blankets are perfect for the beach or park. Plus, it would be great as a stroller cover. Wish I had one when my kids where babies.
Mott 50’s clothing line is stylish enough to integrate easily with our existing wardrobe. As a Mom, we already have enough stress. I love the idea that we don’t to worry about an endless replying of sunscreen for my family.
Stop by their Pop-Up Shop at 1112 Abbott Kinney Blvd, Venice through April 30th or visit them online at www.store.Mott50.com
