I had such a great weekend and I need to share it with you! We were invited to a VIP BBQ at Indian Ranch (Webster MA) and to see Leanne Rimes play!
I had never heard of Indian Ranch so I am guessing that there might be a few of you that aren’t familiar with the venue either. Indian Ranch is an very intimate concert venue. The outdoor amphitheater is nestled between pine trees and is situated on Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg (try to say that). For the past 65 years Indian Ranch has been known as the country musical capital of New England boasting such acts as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Charlie Daniels, Dolly Parton, George Jones! This year they are expanding to include more classic rock, roots rock and acoustic music.
When we arrived I was instantly charmed by the country feel of it all. There is a campground area where you can stay for the weekend or even the summer. The lake is beautiful and big enough for boats and swimming. If you get to hot during a show go on and take a dip. Next time I am bringing my suit with me!
We arrived and went to check out the VIP BBQ. The food was super yummy and we were also introduced to a new beer that has become one of our favorites it is called 50 Back American Lager. This is not just a very tasty beer it also donates 50% of their proceeds to charities committed to supporting and enriching the lives of veterans, active service members and their families. Doesn’t get much better, now you can feel good about cracking open a beer because you are helping out American troops. You can find out more about 50 Back on their website or Facebook…Come on Moms like a beer every once in a while why not support our troops while drinking one!
I was amazed by how intimate the stage was. There was not a bad seat in the house. The opening singer and her band Jacy Dawn drove all the way up from Nashville to play! They were originally from Chelmsford MA (a town away from where I live) so that was pretty cool! She played a great set and the crowd was ready for Leanne.
Before she took the stage we had a chance for a brief meet and greet with her. It was so crowded that it was only a minute but she was so personable to everyone she met! After the meet and greet she came out and rocked the crowd for a good hour at least. She sang all her top songs and some I had never heard but the crowd was loving her! She also looked great in her skye high wedges, denim cutoffs and flowing orange shirt! She closed up her show with a soulful rendition of Bill Withers “Ain’t No Sunshine”.
Indian Ranch has some great shows coming up in the next couple weeks. Little Feat, Dwight Yoakam and Barenaked Ladies to name a few. Check out their website for the full listing! For up to the minutes news like them on Facebook I highly recommend you check this place out! I can not wait to go back!

Very cool and I am uber jealous.
I couldn’t agree with you more!!! Jacy and her band were FANTASTIC!!! Plus, she’s a home-grown Massachusetts girl making it big in Nashville! I’m headding to TN soon and hope to catch HER show there; I’ve already called my brother (who lives there) and told him to catch a show if he can.
For years of listening to Leann’s music on the radio, I wasn’t sure what to expect at an “unplugged” show. Her set was, hmmm, how to put it….well, the lady has chops! Leann is a tiny woman with a powerhouse voice; the high notes…crystal clear, the lower gritty ones were filled with with soul.
No lip synching for her or Jacy.
Both ladies were very relaxed, personable and friendly with the crowd (I heard the show was sold out on TicketMaster by 10am).
It was great of Leann to hoist a 50 Back Beer to the troops…she even started singing a few words about it – wish it is on YouTube. The startup brewery could use either or both ladies to sing a theme song for them.
All in all, it was a fantastic day on the lake in the 100+ degree heat. I’ll certainly will try to catch their future shows!
