I love iced tea on a hot summer day. I was first introduced to sweet teas when I was in grad school living in North Carolina. I remember ordering a “tea” and taking a sip…WOW was it sweet! Not at all bad, just no where near what I was expecting having grown up in California. I learned that if I wanted it sugar-free, I’d have to ask for “unsweet tea” from that day on. And I was first introduced to Lady Antebellum by my 9 year old niece—a huge fan. We were at my mom’s house watching the Country Music Awards last year and I watched their performance of “Own the Night” and admired their energy and stage presence and simply enjoyed the music! I downloaded their latest album from iTunes the very next day and it’s been on constant rotation in my car ever since.
I was thrilled when offered the opportunity to meet with Lady Antebellum prior to their show last week in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. When the band arrived they quickly integrated into our group and started chatting away. Hillary also got on the phone with my 9 year old niece and answered a burning question of hers “When did you know you first wanted to sing?”. She was SO gracious! Hillary responded that she was 14 years old when she knew and went on to tell my niece about that time. She then asked my niece if she wanted to sing when she grew up. My niece replied she didn’t know and Hillary said, “It’s okay if you don’t know. Just follow your heart and you will always be happy” (Cue tears). I get a little emotional over that conversation every time I tell it and my niece is still floating on Cloud 9 after her talk with Hillary! As if that weren’t enough, our small group also enjoyed a private acoustic session of “Dancin’ Away With My Heart”. A-MAZING!
Lady Antebellum is currently on tour. Their US tour ends June 30th and then Lady A heads over to Europe! Their concert was unforgettable on so many levels and they sound even better live than on disc. The tour is sponsored by Lipton Tea and in partnership with the Grammy Award winning trio are promoting Lipton’s new line, Tea & Honey. These iced tea mixes are naturally sweetened with honey (no Aspartame!) and made from real tea leaves and real fruit flavors. Even better is it’s only 5 calories per serving and can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime. It comes in convenient to-go packs or pitcher sticks.
“Lipton is proud to partner with Lady Antebellum to bring exciting content to our fans this summer,” says Marc Hanson, of the Pepsi-Lipton Partnership. “Lipton and Lady Antebellum share a positive and approachable style, and we’re excited to bring the ‘Drink Positive’ spirit to life–together–in a big way this year.”
“All three of us grew up drinking Lipton tea, and we always have a well stocked supply on the bus. Plus, we love the ‘Drink Positive’ message and are excited about connecting with our fans on a whole new level through this campaign,” says Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott.
Our Thoughts
Lipton kindly sent over some samples for me to try. My favorite is the Blackberry Pomegranate. This one is more on the tart side than some of their other flavors and I really enjoyed that. My 4.5 year old like the Decaf Strawberry Acai. This one is mildly sweet and leaves a great honey aftertaste. Both of these flavors have a vibrant color (purple and light red, respectively) and would make a fantastic addition to a spring or summer party.

Aw…. Calling your niece was above nd beyond….. The stuff memories are made of. The tea sounds yummy… As a Brit in the US I’m still getting used to drinking cold tea… But the fruity ones sound yummy. I’ll have to look out for them.
Awesome story – as a filmmaker and a mom, I love hearing about other artists who take the time to encourage kids to follow their passions. That was enough to make me like Lady Antebellum AND “like” Lipton for their support. And I ended up getting a free sample for Mango Pineapple tea (my husband’s favorite flavor) – bonus! Thanks for sharing!
wow, sounds like they couldn’t be nicer! so great about the phone call to your niece, i’m sure that the phone call will be a life long memory for her. the flavors of the lipton tea sound perfectly refreshing for the upcoming summer. i really like how they are individual portions as well, this way you can have a lot of varieties without making huge pitchers!
