Marvel Studios has released a new The Marvels featurette that recaps the journey of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Jersey City Avengers superfan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) before they became heroes. Taking footage from “Captain Marvel,” “WandaVision,” and “Ms. Marvel” we get to see their respective journeys and some of the struggles they had faced in the past. However, when a new villainous threat emerges, our unlikely trio of heroes must work together in concert to defeat it and save the galaxy.
The featurette has a couple of new scenes that haven’t been seen before in any of the trailers of early TV spots. One thing to note is that Carol has been on a mission to regain the memories that the Kree took from her. As she travels across the galaxy, we see that she has photos of Maria and Monica Rambeau in the cockpit. These are the only treasured memories of the family she only knew.
In Monica Rameau’s portion of the featurette, we see that she may be harboring some resentment towards Carol for leaving and not being there when her mother passed away. As such, Monica has been a little bit hardened. As an agent of S.A.B.E.R. she now investigates Earthbound anomalies, which include the events of “WandaVision.” Now she can manipulate wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Finally, the featurette focuses on Kamala. Though Kamala has one bangle on her wrist, the other is around Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), Kree warrior revolutionary who intends to use the bangle and Accuser’s hammer to restore her homeland after a civil war.
The trailer ends with a montage of shots that we’ve already seen, including the trio of heroes leaping into the air to fight Dar-Benn.
The film also stars Gary Lewis, Seo-Jun Park, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson.
“The Marvels” opens in theaters on November 10, 2023.
