Meow! The Sanrio kick-off party honoring Hello Kitty was an awesome event!
We arrived to a mob of people waiting their turn to get into the ‘Three Apples’ exhibition located at Royal T in Culver City.
As soon as we walked in we were overwhelmed (in a good way) with everything Kitty. If you could imagine it, then they probably have created it, fusing the design of our dear little white cat. Swarovski jewelry, toasters, iPhone covers, robots and even pancakes saturated the soiree. There was tons of Hello Kitty collectibles, a special limited edition Hello Kitty Plush doll plus an unimaginable amount of toys and merchandise showcased and available for purchase. We even had a slice of delicious Hello Kitty cake!
With Hello Kitty as their muse, Japanese street-influenced fashion designers got into the mix, creating some unique and amusing Hello Kitty inspired clothes.
thatsitmommy.com got to share space with an interesting range of celebrities like Paris Hilton, Kimora Lee, members of the band Linkin Park as well as the contemporary artists Simone Legno (tokidoki), Gary Baseman and Buff Monster.
What struck us as the most interesting part of the night was the Hello Kitty apartment. Just imagine a flat filled with creatively inspired HK artwork, HK furniture, fixtures and even a Hello Kitty toilet! What crazy fun! We began to wonder how many people might zealously embellish their place in all of this HK glory!
Your chance to celebrate 35 years of the fascinating and fashionable cat runs now through Sunday, November 15, 2009.
Two family friendly dates we recommend attending are Saturday, October 31 featuring the Hello Kitty Halloween party and Sunday, November 1 featuring the actual Hello Kitty Birthday party. The first 100 visitors to each event will receive a Hello Kitty goody bag! Click here for more details.
thatsitmommy.com has decided that this fancy, friendly feline has way more than 9 lives. 35 years have come and gone and Hello Kitty is still an emblematic and endearing character. All of the Hello Kitty items were designed and displayed in the most creative and fun loving way. Hello Kitty is about friendship. And like your best of friends, they can always make you smile!

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the Hello Kitty Halloween party!
It’s a really cool show and artwork is amazing.
But if you plan to go on one of the highlighted event days, go really early. The line was super long on Saturday after the opening day… and that was before it opened. Had to be over 400 people there.
Hello Kitty is one of those timeless icons- for little girls and adult girls everywhere! looks like a fun time- wish i could have been there!
