IMAX invited me to an advance screening of Queen Rock Montreal!
Queen is indisputably one of the greatest rock bands ever, and Freddie Mercury possesses one of the most exceptional voices in music history. His powerful and expressive vocals, combined with his impressive vocal range, are truly unparalleled. Although I was too young to see them perform during their prime, I eagerly seized the opportunity to experience “Queen Rock Montreal”, presented by IMAX. The concert film offered a close-up view of their electrifying performances in Montreal in 1981.
Watching the film with my daughter, who is also a fan of their music, was an incredible experience. The exceptional sound quality and remarkably clear visuals allowed us to truly appreciate each band member’s personality. After the performance, my daughter declared that Roger Taylor is her favorite drummer, second only to Mark Boardman of Lovejoy. We were particularly captivated by iconic songs like “We Are the Champions,” “Under Pressure,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” and, of course, the timeless “Bohemian Rhapsody.” How does one begin to write a song as unforgettable as “Bohemian Rhapsody”? There truly is nothing else like it! I was surprised by the initially low energy of the audience at the beginning of the film, but by the end of the show, they were fully engaged and singing along with Mercury and the rest of the band.
I recommend securing tickets for Queen Rock Montreal, as it is only available for one weekend only. Fans of Queen will not be disappointed! My daughter and I have been unable to stop listening to Queen’s music after this remarkable concert experience.
