Do you live in NYC or do you plan on visiting this holiday season? NYC is a great place to be during the holidays. Our friends Heather and Kieran recently moved to the Big Apple and they’d like to share their holiday “must-sees” list!
From what I understand, New York City at Christmas time is magical. Our family recently moved here from LA, so we’ve been looking into all the touristy and off-the-beaten path activities since our arrival. There are so many activities in and around the city that it is a bit overwhelming sorting through all your options!
I’m looking forward to taking Kieran to “Santaland” at the Macy’s in Herald Square (http://www.macys.com/store/marketing.jsp). Admission is free, but we’ll definitely be picking up some digital photos to commemorate our visit.
Other family events on our December calendar include:
Watching the Rockettes at The Radio City Christmas Spectacular: http://www.radiocitychristmas.com/newyork/
Shopping the Holiday Market at Union Square or one of the many other sites around town (http://nymag.com/guides/holidays/holidayshopping/). At least if my husband isn’t up for shopping, they have WiFi located throughout Union Square Park so we’ll probably head to that one first.
If I weren’t pregnant, I would lace up my skates and take to one of the many ice skating rinks in the city. Rockefeller Center is the most popular (or at least most touristy). The Museum of Natural History and the Polar Rink. Maybe I’ll just watch the hubby take our little one from the sidelines. For more on the Polar Rink and other ice skating rinks in the city, visit http://manhattan.about.com/od/governmentandpolitics/tp/iceskatingnyc.htm
Our one planned trip off Manhattan this month will be to visit the Bronx Zoo and see their Holiday Light show (http://www.bronxzoo.com/). We may even get suckered into a horse-drawn carriage ride, but we hope our daughter is happy with just looking at them!
With so many options, we can’t go wrong. Hopefully we’ll be able to do it all!
