Flowers enhance any special occasion and I especially appreciate the “just because” deliveries! A delivery of flowers always puts a smile on my face and brightens my day. I recently was offered the chance to review an original bouquet by top LA floral designer, David Goldstein of My Beverly Hills Florist. I was happy to oblige!
David’s creations can be ordered through www.bloomnation.com. I have to admit that I was overwhelmed by the choices! I also expected, through-the-roof prices for the arrangements but I found the opposite. Arrangements started as low as $35 and the tools on the website helped me prepare my selection.
Rich, romantic flowers such as red roses are my favorite! Gerberas and sunflowers are a close second for their bright spring shades. But I wanted to choose something festive and reflective of the winter season. The White Holiday Bowl caught my eye. I wouldn’t normally select a white arrangement but I loved the pine cones and silver accents.
About this flower arrangement:
White Holiday Bowl- Over a Dozen white South American White Roses, Pine Cones, Holly and Pine Branches fit nicely designed in a 6.5″ round vase with accents of snowflakes. This arrangement is approx.10″ Round. $89.
A knock on our door brought a rush of excitement! My daughter and I greeted the delivery man with a “WOW!” I was prepared for a pretty arrangement but the photo on the site didn’t do the arrangement justice (the photographs are very nice – I just want to make that point clear). The arrangement surpassed my expectations! Visually, the arrangement was absolutely stunning and the scent was amazing! The fresh, natural smell brought in the outdoors to my living room. The bowl is clear and it is filled with pebbles which gives the bouquet an open feeling.
Instead of keeping the White Holiday Bowl, I decided to gift it to a close friend upon learning of her dog who had passed away. I knew that it would bring a smile to her face that she so needed at the time. The arrangement definitely brought cheer to my day but I wanted to pass it along to someone who really needed a special hug.
The White Holiday Bowl was placed on her mantel which was the perfect location for it.
If you are in the greater LA area consider ordering an arrangement from My Beverly Hills Florist. The styles were creative and absolutely gorgeous.
David Goldstein took the time to answer a few questions for us!
Q. What assortments last the longest?
Anything with orchids. Specially cymbidium orchids.
Q. What flowers make people happiest?
Yellow and orange roses. Bright colors like these remind us of sunshine, warm weather and hence happy memories, so filling your house with those colors tend to make people happy.
Q. Pet safe arrangements (not poisonous?)
Really rare. Everything that’s imported is not pet friendly, so don’t let your pets play with them.
Q. Do people order flowers for men, if so what type?
Yes. Mainly lilies and orchid plants – they are gender neutral and we know orchids take little to keep alive.
Q. What tips do you have for someone who wants to be a floral designer?
Just do it. Feel the flowers and go for it. No one can teach anyone design. Either you have it or you don’t!
