Disney+’s Home Alone Reboot Adds Kenan Thompson, Chris Parnell, and Ally Maki
Disney+’s Home Alone Reboot already found its lead kid in the charming Jojo Rabbit actor Archie Yates. And now, he will be joined a comedic cast, some of whom may likely be the victims of some ingenious trap involving household products. The latest news says Saturday Night Live alums Kenan Thompson and Chris Parnell, Toy Story 4 voice star Ally Maki will be joining Yates, Rob Delaney and Ellie Kemper, and more.
KEVIN!! I am beyond thrilled to share this news with you. As someone who obsessively grew up with the Home Alone movies it’s a dream to join this very hilarious and incredibly talented cast. A MASSIVE thank you to @disneyplus + @disney and my entire team. 🎉🍕 https://t.co/BZHDp1UnAB

While Disney+’s Home Alone will be a reboot, the story will have a few changes to distance itself from its original predecessor. According to The Disinsider, who first reported on the latest casting news, the reboot “will follow a husband and wife who go to war with a young boy, Max, who has stolen a porcelain doll from them. Max is an energetic, witty nine-year-old boy with a mischievous side. He feels wise beyond his years and has the personality to easily converse with adults—plus the uncanny ability to relentlessly push their buttons. But, he also displays a sense of innocence and a kind heart, much like the original protagonist.”
Thompson will play Gavin, while Parnell will play Uncle Stu, and Maki will play Mei. It’s not clear what kind of role they will play in the film. But given that Delaney and Kemper will play the husband and wife duo who go to war against Max, it’s very likely that the three could play a friendly supportive role to Max. We will just have to wait and see.
Other cast members include Aisling Bea, Pete Holmes, Timothy Simons, and Mikey Day, who co-wrote the script with Streeter Seidell. It is also rumored that Macaulay Culkin, who starred in the original Home Alone, could make an appearance.
The Home Alone reboot is based on the 1990 comedy of the same name. In it, an 8-year-old boy named Kevin McCallister finds himself home alone after his family takes off for a trip to Paris. Forced to live on his own until one of his family members can come home, Kevin makes sure his house stays in one piece while also defending it from a pair of serial burglars who are wreaking havoc in the local neighborhood during Christmas vacation.
The original Home Home Alone grossed over $425 million. This was more than enough to get a sequel greenlit. But instead of leaving Kevin home alone again, he was stranded alone in New York, and had to defend a local toy store from the same pair that tried to rob his house.
