Super Heroes are not just for boys anymore.
Get ready for DC Super Hero Girls!
DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. and Mattel join forces to create, DC Super Hero Girls. A new Super Hero universe developed just for girls, aged 6-12. DC Super Hero Girls will feature the most powerful, iconic and diverse line-up of female Super Heroes and Super Villains of the DC Comics universe: Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumble Bee, Poison Ivy, Katana and more.
This new line will feature teenage versions of these characters in a new artistic style, with stories that empower and help build confidence in young girls. Each character will have their own storyline that will explore teen life as a Super Hero and dealing with their unique abilities.
DC Super Hero Girls will initially launch in Fall 2015 with original digital content and digital publishing. Then with TV specials, made-for-videos, toys, apparel, books and other products to follow in 2016.
Mattel will be producing the toy line of action figures and fashion dolls for DC Super Hero Girls, since they hold the master toy license for DC Entertainment. The action figures category have been, for the most part, a boys toy category with untapped market potential for girls. The toy line will launch in 2016.
Random House Books for Young Readers imprint of Random House Children’s Books will be the master publishing partner. They will be creating a series of books that will bring the DC Super Hero Girls universe to life. Look for these books to be complimented by a series of original graphic novels from DC Entertainment beginning Spring 2016.
LEGO will also be creating a series of building sets designed to inspire the imaginations of girls. Adding these construction sets to the DC Super Hero Girls should help expand the reach of the franchise.
