D23 Celebrates the Muppets next week
It’s almost time to play the music. It’s almost time to light the lights. D23, the official Disney fan club, wants to make sure everything is in place for the “Muppet Treasure Island” 25th Anniversary Tweet Party and A Muppetational Legacy with D23.
D23 Gold Member pin collectors have access to limited edition Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear pins. The pins feature Kermit as Captain Smollett and Fozzie as Squire Trelawney from “Muppet Treasure Island.” They will be available to D23 Gold Members on ShopDisney starting at 7 a.m. Pacific time on February 15.
D23 is also offering 30% discount to Gold Member purchases of BoxLunch products, which includes T-shirts of Muppet characters.
The “Muppet Treasure Island” 25th Anniversary “Cabin Fever” Tweet Party is February 16 at 7 p.m. Eastern time. “The Muppet Show” and “Muppet Treasure Island” are streaming on Disney+. The D23 website has a page for live tweeting, trivia, fun facts and some surprise appearances. Use #D23MuppetMayhem to join the conversation.
A Muppetational Legacy with D23 premieres on February 18 at 7 p.m. Eastern time. The Muppetational Legacy, on D23.com and D23’s Facebook and YouTube pages, celebrates the 25th anniversary of “Muppet Treasure Island,” the 30th anniversary of the “Dinosaurs” TV show, and “The Muppet Show” arriving on Disney+.
Leigh Slaughter, the vice president of Muppets Studio and the host of A Muppetational Legacy, will be joined by puppeteers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Brian Henson, who is also chairman of The Jim Henson Company, and actor Kevin Bishop.
