Teenage drivers have a lot to learn and parents can’t always be there to make sure their kids stay on course. Chevrolet has created a way to make it a little easier for a teen driver to learn the rules of the road.
Chevrolet offers Teen Driver Technology in most of its vehicles. It includes speed limiters, speed warnings, audio limits and seat belt reminder features.
Parents can set safety monitors in their teens’ cars that will help them become responsible and focused drivers.
Studies show 61% of high school students wear seat belts when riding with someone else. With the Chevrolet Teen Driver Technology, the seat belt feature prevents the driver from shifting into drive until all those riding in the front seats put on seat belts. In addition, there is an audio mute feature that automatically turns off sounds from the radio until driver and front passengers are wearing seat belts.
The speed warning feature signals the driver with visible and audible alerts when the vehicle exceeds a preselected speed.
The speed limiter feature restricts vehicle speed to a maximum of 85 mph.
The audio limit feature sets a maximum volume of audio in the vehicle.
The Chevrolet Teen Driver Technology is available in the Malibu, Bolt EV, Camaro, Equinox, Traverse, Suburban, Tahoe, Colorado and Silverado 1500 and HD models.
To help encourage safe driving habits, Chevy is the only car company to offer Teen Driver technology with an in-vehicle report on most of its models.
