Do you have leftover candy canes hanging out in your house like I do? Please tell me that I am not the only one who does! I am going to show you how to make them into heart shaped lollipops and help you clear out your candy cane stash from the holidays!
First thing you need to do is gather your supplies. For some reason I had all the supplies on hand in my hoard collection of craft supplies. Do you have one of those? My abundance of craft supplies has definitely come in handy while living overseas! I live in a small town and the nearest craft store is an hour away!
Let’s get started and use up some of these supplies and get rid of these candy canes make a cute Valentine’s Day inspired lollipop to give away!
You will need candy canes, chocolate chips, sprinkles (or you can crush some candy canes), lollipop sticks, wax paper, candy bags, and ribbon. Here we go!
I like to get all my supplies laid out and ready to go.
Lay some wax paper on a cookie sheet and arrange your candy canes with the lollipop sticks. Ignore the ugly countertop and backsplash! I live in British Forces housing and the houses don’t have a lot of character inside! You should see my wall color!! Bleh!
Melt the chocolate. I added a couple of drops of food coloring to make the chocolate pink.
I have a tough time using a double boiler for melting chocolate and have been unsuccessful with the microwave method. I tend to overheat things in the microwave!! I got this awesome Wilton’s Chocolate Melt/Warmer pot and have never looked back! I love it!
If you are wondering what that big brown box is that my nifty little chocolate melting pot is plugged into, it is a transformer! Isn’t it just beautiful? The U.S. military provides these for us. It looks like something “government issue”, doesn’t it? In order for me to use my appliances that are 120v from the U.S. (vacuum, food processor, kitchen aid, etc), I need to plug it into this HEAVY transformer! If I just use an adaptor, I can blow up my appliances! Well, I’m not sure if they would blow up, but I am not going to find out and risk ruining them!
Spoon some melted chocolate in the middle of our candy cane hearts and decorate. I sprinkled crushed candy canes immediately after I added the melted chocolate, doing one at a time. Let the chocolate set and harden. It doesn’t take long at all!
Then package them up and give them away!!
Supplies
- Candy canes
- Chocolate chips
- Sprinkles (optional)
- Lollipop sticks
- Wax paper
- Candy bags and ribbon, for packaging
Steps:
1. Lay your candy canes onto the wax paper in the shape of a heart. Place a lollipop stick on the bottom part of the heart.
2. Melt your chocolate chips. When melted pour enough inside the candy cane heart to fill the middle.
3. Decorate your heart with sprinkles or candies. You can even crush candy canes and use that!
4. Let this set and harden.
5. Package up your lollipops and give them away!
Happy Valentine’s Day! – That’s IT Mommy! Sharon

OK I’m not crafty, was feeling skeptical when I saw the title of this post, but this is cute!
Thanks Catherine! They are super easy to make and don’t take a lot of skill! I think the hardest part for me would have been to lug that transformer up onto the counter. Thankfully it was already there! Happy Valentines Day!
Hey Sharon! This is so creative and cute! I love it!
