Bill & Ted Face the Music Trailer
And New VOD and Theatrical Release Date Announced
Bill & Ted Face the Music refuse to let something like a pandemic get between them and their fans. While the film changed its release date due to the ongoing pandemic, it looks like they will be giving the fans what they want by releasing the film simultaneously on VOD and whatever theater is willing to show their film on September 1, 2020.
That release announcement was made today during the release of a brand new trailer. We learn about Bill (Alex Winters) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) are stuck in dead-end jobs and have a fragile relationship with their daughters, Billie Logan (Brigette Lundy-Paine) and Thea Preston (Samara Weaving). But the rocking duo have a change their destiny and reconnect with their daughters when they are given a chance to create a song that will save all of life on Earth.
Also returning is Will Sader, who played the Grim Reaper in Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. He’ll be joined by Kristen Schaal, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Holland Taylor, Kid Cudi, Anthony Carrigan, Jillian Bell, Beck Bennett, Hal Landon Jr. and Amy Stoch.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for Bill and Ted Face The Music.
“The now middle aged best friends set out on a new adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe, with the helped by their daughters (played by Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine), a new batch of historical figures and a few music.”
News of the non-traditional release comes at a time when the U.S. is still uncertain about what businesses should be reopening during the pandemic. Movie theaters have been shuttered since the mid-March, leaving some studios to either release the films on their respective streaming service or VOD. Of course, this method can work for some of the smaller films. But a simultaneous release both on VOD and in theaters at least gives us some hope that we will have figured out how to watch a movie in a theater by then. However, I am not holding my breath.
Of course, there’s also the drive-in option.
Additionally, Bill & Ted Face the Music will also head to Comic-Con@Home for a most excellent panel discussion, moderated by Kevin Smith on Saturday, July 25 at 3 PM PST. The panel will include Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, Samara Weaving, Bridgette Lundy-Paine and William Sadler, as well as director Dean Parisot and screenwriters Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
