Followers of NBC’s A.D. The Bible Continues, can now tune into its digital companion series, Beyond A.D., available on NBC.com. Hosted by E! News co-host Jason Kennedy, the weekly half-hour show will serve as a discussion platform, featuring cast, producers, and special celebrity guests. The day I attended, Juan Pablo di Pace (Jesus), author and Pastor Jud Wilhite and musical guest, multi-Dove nominee Christine D’Clario were on the panel.
Pablo di Pace had interesting things to say regarding his experiences portraying Jesus. He said his mom told him she didn’t think he was initially qualified to portray Jesus. “She said, maybe you can play John or Peter. But, you’re not ready to play Jesus,” Juan Pablo di Pace says. After his third audition tape, his mother says she gave him the thumbs up. He also addressed the stigma of being called “#hotJesus,” which he doesn’t consider a compliment.
“I would like people to look at me beyond my looks. Jesus is more than that: He was a charismatic person, and this role is richer than that,” says Pablo di Pace. He enjoyed portraying Jesus and although flattered by the numerous compliments, the actor wants fans to hear the message.
Produced by the acclaimed History Channel’s Bible series executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, the lively talk show discusses both historical and spiritual topics. Fans and audience members also have the opportunity to interact with cast, producers and special guests. New installments of Beyond A.D. will be available on NBC.com, cable, satellite, On Demand services, the NBC App, and select NBC station distribution channels.
I enjoyed attending the talk show, which is taped before a live audience at Real Life Church in Santa Clarita. Jason Kennedy of E! News does an excellent job of keeping the audience entertained.
