Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is just a few short weeks away from release, Disney has announced fans can purchase movie tickets to be among the first to watch the film in select theaters on Friday, September 3.
While it isn’t unusual to see studios announce that fans can purchase tickets early ahead of a film’s release, the circumstances for this are different this time around. We are still living amid a pandemic where a new delta variant is surging, and cases are rising. While it is a scary time, I encourage anyone who has been vaccinated and honors the mask-wearing policy to go out and get these tickets because it will genuinely be an MCU film like no other.
“Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” is the first Marvel Studios film to star a predominately Asian cast. Simu Liu (Kim’s Convenience) stars as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.
Additionally, Marvel Studios has released a brand new TV spot with a few new scenes to look forward to.
The film also stars Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, with Michelle Yeoh as Ying Nan, and Tony Leung as Xu Wenwu, Shang-Chi’s father; as well as Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Yuen Wah, Ronny Chieng, Zach Cherry, and Dallas Liu.
“Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Charles Newirth serving as executive producers. Dave Callaham & Destin Daniel Cretton & Andrew Lanham wrote the screenplay, and the screen story is by Dave Callaham & Destin Daniel Cretton.
“Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” opens in theaters on September 3, 2021.
