It’s summer, which means families and friends will be going on vacations. And after the year we’ve had, we all deserve it. Especially, The Addams Family, who look particularly unhappy that they reunite with us – and I mean that in a good way – for “The Addams Family 2.” A set of new posters have been released to mark the film’s release during the Halloween season, and things look like they will get tropical, and of course, spooky.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “The Addams Family 2:”
Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all new movie we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, It, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?
As you can see, the entire Addams family is getting into the vacation groove, whether Wednesday and Pugsley like it or not. Each of the posters has some little tidbit about their latest tropical getaway, whether that’s Gomez wearing sunglasses and a lei, while Thing wearing a driver’s glove, is perched on his shoulder. Then there’s Morticia sipping on a coconut drink, with an eyeball in place of a olive, and a creepy spider crawling on the outside.
Lurch awaits their beck and call while wearing a neck pillow. And the kids are getting into all sorts of trouble with Pugsley getting a bit explosive by having a stick of dynamite at the end of a snorkel, and Wednesday standing rather stoic while Pugsley’s pet octopus Aristotle is perched on her shoulder.
The voice cast includes Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Charlize Theron as Morticia, Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, and Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton as Pugsley – he replaces Finn Wolfhard. Other voice talents include Wallace Shawn, with Snoop Dogg as ‘IT’, with Bette Midler and Bill Hader.
Directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, “The Addams Family 2” opens in theaters on October 1, 2021.
