Disney has released the newest trailer for The Mandalorian season 2. Though it may feature the usual collection of never before seen clips from the upcoming season, it reveals a few tiny details about the plot. Here, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), aka The Mandalorian, is on a quest to return The Child, aka Baby Yoda, to the Jedi, the group of sorcerers who were nearly wiped out by the evil Galactic Empire. As you may have guessed, the sorcerers they are speaking of are the Jedi.
Though his journey will reunite him with some familiar faces like Cara Dune (Gina Carano) and Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), Din realizes that to bring Baby Yoda back to the Jedi, he will have to find fellow Mandalorians to help him.
And that is about the gist of the trailer, which appeared on Monday Night Football. That’s synergy for you. Debuting a big Star Wars trailer on a sports-centered cable channel that’s owned by Disney.
Even though we know just a little more about the upcoming season, there are still many unanswered questions. How does Star Wars fan-favorite characters Askoha Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Boba Fett (Temura Morrison) fit into all of this? What kind of threat does Michael Biehn’s character pose to Din? And will Mogg Gideon be victorious in claiming the Child for his own agenda?
The Mandalorian also stars Katie Sackhoff, who reprises her role as Bo-Katan. Timothy Olyphant also joins the cast as Cobb Vanth, another bounty hunter who wears Boba Fett’s armor.
It will be interesting to see if Season 2 can prove that The Mandalorian is more than just a novelty. The first season proved that there was no need to have Jedis or Siths. Although there were some slight nods to both factions. But a show centering on the titular bounty hunter, along with Western vibes and reverence to the Lone Wolf and Cub manga, really made The Mandalorian something special. So hopefully, they can keep that momentum going.
