It seems almost ironic that Paramount Pictures would release a brand new look at A Quiet Place: Part II on what is one of the loudest days of the year, the Super Bowl. But here we are. The sequel is a continuation of the Quiet Place franchise, where the survivors of an alien invasion must live in complete and utter silence. In it, Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and her family must venture outside the safety of their former home, which was destroyed in the events of the first film, to find out how other people have been living with these terrifying aliens.
A Quiet Place: Part II will also take a look back at day one when the aliens arrived, which means there will be a few teaser moments of what life was like before survivors were forced to live a life of silence. The sequel will pick up right where the first left off, with Emily Blunt, playing a single mother to two older children, played by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, and a newborn baby. As they try to find a new home, they will encounter other survivors who may or may not be a threat to their survival.
Here’s the official synopsis for A Quiet Place: Part II:
Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
The plot to the sequel seems more or less of what you might expect to see. Of course, many of us were wondering how others were surviving in a world overrun by creatures that hunt by sound. But it’s unclear how they have changed after the invasion, and what sort of impact that will have when they come across other survivors. That sort of mystery will surely keep the tensions high and many of us on edge.
In addition to the Super Bowl spot, Paramount Pictures has also released a behind-the-scenes look at the film, which reveals a little bit more of the plot and how writer and director John Krasinski shot the film.
Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou also star.
A Quiet Place Part II opens in theaters on March 20, 2020.
