Remember when “A Quiet Place Part II” was supposed to hit theaters last year? Well, the pandemic forced every studio to rethink its film release strategy. While some believed that straight to streaming would be a better option than shelving it for an uncertain future, others chose to wait it out and release it when it was safe to go back into theaters. Paramount did that with “A Quiet Place Part II.” And they are rewarding those who patiently waited with a brand new trailer that assures fans and cinephiles that the only place you can see this movie is in a theater.
The trailer starts off with a flashback moments before the alien invasion, where we see John Krasinski shopping at a general store for some of his usual supplies. Just before making his purchases, he notices some disturbing news on the television. While no one knows what is going on, the trailer suddenly goes quiet. Not too long after, chaos ensues as people run screaming. With Krasinski clutching Millicent Simmons, they run to safety.
But those who watched the first “A Quiet Place” know what happens next. With Emily Blunt being the Abbott protector, she takes the family outside of the safe boundaries to find a new refuge. But as they will soon discover, the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only dangerous things that lurk in this very quiet world.
As the trailer teases more of what makes the film so scary and entertaining, various pull quotes, from those who saw the film last year before theaters closed and Paramount delayed the released, reminds us about the reason why we go to the theaters to see films like “A Quiet Place Part II.”
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “A Quiet Place Part II:”
Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
Additionally, Paramount released a featurette where Krasinski talks about his excitement to see “A Quiet Place Part II” in a theater because “it was always designed to be a theatrical experience.” Blunt then adds that she is excited for everyone to see it in the way that it was meant to be seen.
