Universal Studios has added a new dining option- the Minion Café! The cute café is located in the Upper lot of Universal Studios next to Funland. The décor is colorful, the menu is small yet powerfully tasty and adults can purchase beer here! It is set up as a take away cafeteria style service. Order yummy grilled cheeses, nachos, chicken fingers, desserts and more.
My husband and I ordered the following items during our visit.
El Macho Nachos with Chicken: – $13.99
Chicken tinga served in a tortilla bowl topped with white queso, guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream and cilantro
I was not expecting the huge portion size! You can easily share this between two people. The shredded chicken was tasty and I loved all of the toppings. I especially enjoyed the queso cheese vs the standard cheddar cheese. The guac was also really good. This is a gluten free option! I would love to see a side of chips and guacamole offered on the menu!
Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese with Banana BBQ Sauce – $14.99
Sharp cheddar cheese, pulled pork, caramelized onion, crinkle cut fries, banana BBQ sauce dip
We decided to get adventurous and go beyond the basic grilled cheese and ordered the pulled pork grilled cheese. While it looks like a small sandwich it’s packed will pulled pork and the onions weren’t overwhelming. The fries were crispy on the outside, smooth on the inside and were served hot! The BBQ dipping sauce on the side is a good idea. I like controlling the amount of sauce on my sandwiches. The dip was sweeter than usual, maybe it was the ba-na-na?
Nutella® Banana Pudding – $5.99
Banana pudding, vanilla wafer, Nutella®, cocoa butter
Score! The Nutella Banana Pudding is delectable. It is easily one of my favorite theme-park desserts. The flavorful layers of hazelnut and banana are despicably delicious!! Plus, it looks super-cute. This is a must-try if you enjoy this mix of flavors. YUM!
This is a vegetarian food option.
I’ll definitely order from Minion Café again. We were pretty full with these 3 items but next time, I’ll definitely try the Pork Ramen Bowl.
The prices are on the high-side but typical of theme-park food.
Minion Café offers outdoor seating only. It’s definitely a good spot for people watching!
