OUR THOUGHTS: Kieran has loved Yo Gabba Gabba! from the first time we discovered it last year. Some of the songs are so catchy, we still sing them, even several months later! I love how each episode is recapped at the end, reinforcing what was learned.
The newest YGG title from Nickelodeon is CIRCUS. The first episode in the DVD is the same as the dvd title, and I love Weird Al’s guest appearance in this episode. He is the ideal guest to have on this show, as his specialty is creating funny, silly songs! I love how each YGG fosters imaginative play. Both my husband and I agree that Yo Gabba Gabba is on of our favorite shows to watch with Kieran. Her favorite episode was “Treasure”, I think because it goes right in line with her natural intincts to explore! My favorite episode was “Flying”. Maybe it’s the retro side of me, but I love when Biz Markie makes guest appearances AND in butterfly wings! Well, that’s just plain awesome.

OUR THOUGHTS: I love when Nickelodeon puts out these compilation DVD’s. It gives Kieran a great variety of quality programming and each series has it’s own strengths. I loved the Kai-lan episode the best, as it reminded me of a recent family vacation to Maui! I also loved this episode because it worked through an important problem of how to incorporate all your friends in an activity. I also think it’s great to expose young kids to foreign languages and I’m constantly amazed at how well Kieran can repeat back the new words in Dora, Diego and Kai-lan. I also love how Wonder Pets! and Yo Gabba Gabba stretches your child’s imagination. This episode of Blue’s Clues taught an important lesson of seatbelt safety. When I can use her favorite characters to reinforce my parenting, it often makes our discussions much easier!
