I always find myself looking for a new, creative way to introduce food to my boys. They are both fairly picky eaters and I’ve found that presenting their food in a fun way is the key to getting them to try something new (or to clean their plate!). Jack is especially fond of “fun food” and now that he is approaching kindergarten, I’ve started worrying about how he’ll eat at school when I’m not there to encourage him or create trains out of his food. I started looking around online for a product to help out with my concerns, and I found a great one!
Laptop Lunches are the answer to my dilemma. They have bento-style lunchboxes that come in great colors and styles. We tried out their Alien Bento 2.0 System. Jack loves the design and couldn’t wait to show it off to his friends at school. I love….well…everything about this system!
Not only are Laptop Lunches cute, they are eco-friendly, safe, easy to clean, and made in the USA. With all the negative press concerning plastics, I was impressed to see that these products contain no lead, BPA, phthalates, or PVC. They are also made of recycled material and are recyclable themselves! The products are reusable and very easy to clean. Just toss them in the dishwasher in the top rack, and they are good to go for the next meal.
The bento system comes with five inner containers for food (three of which have lids), a set of stainless steel utensils, an outer shell, and an insulated carrier. The inner containers vary in size and can easily fit a good sized lunch. There is even a container small enough for dip. I love that I can use the containers for different snacks and that everything will be contained and protected in the large outer
shell.
For Jack’s first lunch, I packed him string cheese with turkey pepperoni, crackers, celery, grapes, and a granola bar. This all fit neatly into the system and I was able to put a juice box and cold pack in the insulated carrier. When I picked him up at school that afternoon, he was carrying an empty lunchbox, which is rare for him. He ate everything and was so excited to tell me about how much his friends liked his new lunchbox.
If you’re on the lookout for a great lunchbox or brown paper bag alternative, I highly recommend Laptop Lunches. Their products are high quality, inventive, cost-effective, and eco-friendly. I am truly impressed with our lunchbox. In fact, I’m thinking about using it myself on the weekends when I go to work. It’ll hold a nice sized adult lunch too!
