It was a beautiful SoCal winter afternoon, the kind where it’s perfect to go ice skating at Woodland Hills Ice. Also, to celebrate Kid’s Inventor’s Day with PBS’ Doozers! I must admit, my children were so excited to ice skate and learn more about the tiny Doozers. Just who are the Doozers, you may ask? Well, they’re green, they’re cute, they’re three inches tall, and they’re full of energy, ideas, and enthusiasm. Essentially, the Doozers are living at the edges of our world and right under our noses!
When the kiddos were not falling all over the ice, we were busy being creative and painting with colored ice cubes. Perhaps the greatest inventive process was then building with them. It was fun to see my kids inspired by the Doozers, who helped them feel like they can do things on their own and be spontaneous.
There are four Doozers kids, a team of best friends who live in Doozer Creek. Doozer Creek is a community that contains a wonderful blending of the fantastical, modern, and eco-friendly. Spike, Molly Bolt, Flex, and Daisy Wheel bounce from one fabulous kid adventure to the next. Like the Scout troops, they love to DESIGN, CREATE, and INNOVATE, engage in exciting projects, and have a blast playing together. These Doozers are DOERS – they put their ideas into action! Who wouldn’t want to design their very own Doozer Derby race car, fly in a jetpack (or better yet…fly with a kaleidoscope of butterflies!), or build a giant life-sized gingerbread house?! Whatever they are doing, the Doozers always manage to have a fantastic time and forge lasting memories!
Do the Doozers look familiar? Parents might recognize the characters from Fraggle Rock! Another fun series from The Henson Company to watch with the kids.
This animated series from PBS can be viewed via the Hulu network. For more information, visit the following website:
