You’ve all been waiting for it! The moment the first notes of the Star Wars Theme hit and the famous yellow font scrolls up the screen! It’s here- Star Wars: The Force Awakens…
The Force Awakens is set approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, where the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire have become the Resistance and the First Order. We follow new characters named Finn, Rey, and Poe Dameron alongside beloved characters returning from previous Star Wars films.
So much has changed on the Stars Wars frontier. Even under extremely detailed scrutiny of each new trailer as they were released, there was still not enough info gleaned from repeated trailer views. That only fed our anticipation for the new movie. Well, get ready to have many of your questions answered and predictions challenged. There are NO spoilers in this review, but I can share that this is a “Star Wars” movie! It has all the atmosphere of the old movies but J.J. Abrams sets off a new epic tale and does not play it safe. As serious as the story is and the intensity to which it unfolds still leaves a place for comic relief and great one liners. That plus all the advanced technical elements and cinematography capture and enhance new worlds, new characters and new threats. It was awe-inspiring!
The best part is the marriage of new and old. There has never been a generation gap with Star Wars. From the original movies to the animated series, there is a strong bond between all ages. The Force Awakens reestablishes and reinforces that bond, bringing us back to the battles, banter and struggle between the light and dark sides of the Force. There is an overwhelming nostalgia factor in play here, but The Force Awakens delivers on all levels and leaves us with one of the one of the best cliffhanger endings of all time!
